NATIVE PLANT CONSULTING & DESIGN
WHAT WE OFFER
Consulting and design services for private and commercial properties for native plant selection, landscape design. For larger projects, we partner with local landscapers for plant installation, maintenance, hardscaping and other services. However, we can provide installation for small project, if desired.
Of course, we also serve as a source for native plant material!
We do not offer tree services. We recommend contacting Greg Aerni at Whispering Pines Tree Service for your arboreal needs!

HOW IT WORKS
We offer a $75 initial consultation for up to an hour and half (including drive time) to visit on site, learn more about what you're looking for and provide you with a recommended plant list.
Further design services are available for $75/hr.
Services may include: scope of work, planting design or plan, recommended site preparations and future maintenance, project processes and timelines and assistance with logistics, as needed.
Our installation services are limited, however, if we are unable to install we can connect you with a landscaping or plant installation partner.
Call or email Michelle to get an initial consultation scheduled!

Native Plant Consulting & Design FAQs
Do you do installation and ongoing maintenance?
We focus on the design and plant supply side of things. While we do not offer installation or long-term maintenance services ourselves, we have a strong network of trusted local landscapers we are happy to refer you to for the "dirty work" once your design is ready.
What is a typical budget for a native landscape design?
We find we can provide the most value on projects that are 500+ sq. ft. typically starting with a budget around $1,300–$6,000 (excluding irrigation and installation labor). This usually covers the initial site visit, design time, and typically 280–500 native plants depending on your goals.
I have a lawn—do I have to get rid of it all?
Not at all. If you have kids, dogs, or high-traffic areas, keep the sod! We recommend converting low-traffic areas, edges, and borders (100+ feet from the house) into native plantings. This creates a functional balance between usable space and ecological habitat.
Should I use seeds or container plants?
That depends on your patience and your budget! 🌱 Seeds: Great for lower budgets, large areas, and grasses/annuals, but please note it can take up to 3 years to look established. 🌱 Plants: A higher upfront investment, but they provide an immediate "finished" look. 🌱 Plugs: A "middle ground" option—smaller, less expensive plants that establish quickly (often within a year). 🌱 Pro-Tip: We often design using a mix of both to maximize your budget and impact.
Once they are planted, do I need to water them?
Yes, at least for the first 3 years. Native plants need time to grow the deep root systems that eventually make them drought-tolerant. During this establishment period, we focus on "deep and infrequent" watering to encourage those roots to dive deep.
